Longtime specialty coffee professional Mark Inman has joined the team at Portland, Oregon-based green coffee trading company Sustainable Harvest, as the new “director of growth.”

A past president of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (now the Specialty Coffee Association) Inman joins Sustainable Harvest after working for the past nearly seven years as the North American sales director for Olam Specialty Coffee. A prominent figure on the trade show circuit and one of the developers of the Loring Smart Roast system, Inman was also one of the founding partners of the California roasting company Taylor Maid Organic Farms, which was acquired in 2016 before a name change to Taylor Lane.

In an announcement of the hire of Inman, Sustainable Harvest praised the industry veteran for his longtime commitment to sustainable practices, particularly those relating to coffee farmers.

“Mark is a close friend and has been an inspiration since the early days of Sustainable Harvest,” Sustainable Harvest Founder and CEO David Griswold said in the announcement. “He advocated for organic and regenerative practices long before it was popular and I admire his dedication. In many ways, Mark has been a vanguard for the values that the ‘Relationship Coffee’ model embodies.

Inman will be involved in leading Sustainable Harvest’s growth efforts not just in North America, but also in Europe, since the importing company recently acquired Twin Trading, based in the UK.

“With our current plans for growth, the timing couldn’t be better for Mark to come on board,” said Griswold. “There isn’t a more qualified person to help shape Sustainable Harvest’s future.”
