Minneapolis-based specialty coffee importing company Cafe Imports is bringing its Legendary Coffee Exchange to the upcoming SCA Expo in Portland, Oregon.
With an octopus logo depicting the animated complexity inherent to roasted coffees, Cafe Imports debuted the Legendary Coffee Exchange concept in 2021 as a way to build personal connections between professional roasters during pandemic times.
In Portland, the coffee swapping program will involve individual drop-offs and pickups of bagged, roasted coffee. Participating roasters will be randomly assigned a bag from a fellow roaster, then asked to bring the coffee home and cup it, then connect and share notes with their roasting partner.

Participation is free to SCA Expo-goers with online or in-person registration, and the swapping will take place April 20-22 at the Cafe Imports booth (#2166) inside the Oregon Convention Center expo hall. Participating roasters will be asked to supply a small bag of roasted coffee (8 to 16 ounces).
Beyond whatever interesting tasting or networking experiences roasters may find through the coffee swap, they’ll also be eligible to win an Ikawa Pro 50 sample roaster. Cafe Imports will be choosing the winner based on a random drawing.
