Probat Plans Virtual Launch of New P05 and P12 Roasters

Germany-based coffee roasting machine giant Probat plans to officially launch two new models aimed squarely at the smaller commercial roasting segment, the P05 III and the P12 III.

A digital launch including demonstrations of the two updated models in the P series will be taking place on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. CEST at the company’s YouTube and Facebook channels.

The new 5-kilo-capacity P05 III and 12-kilo P12 III represent the third major iteration of Probat’s P series roasters, designed for smaller commercial roasting applications.

To this point, Probat hasn’t shared specifics related to how the machines may depart from previous models, although a company announcement today hinted a range of new technological and design features. Probat wrote:

The new P05 and P12 stand out thanks to perfected constructive characteristics wrapped in an ingenious version of the iconic PROBAT design. This combination takes them to the highest level in terms of usability, energy efficiency and ergonomics. Next to other inspiring technical features, the P05 and P12 are equipped with a forward-looking intelligent control system, which delivers a most precise roasting experience for optimum flavor development. Furthermore, the familiar silhouette of the new roasters was slightly reshaped, now adding that extra vintage touch to what was already classy before. To meet individual preferences, various customization options are available, to make the new P05 and P12 even more unique.

The company — which maintains manufacturing and sales operations throughout the globe, including a new United States headquarters outside of Chicago — had planned to debut the new series of machines at the SCA Expo in Portland and the World of Coffee event in Warsaw, but neither of those events have materialized amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are thrilled to be able to present this new generation of highly innovative shop roasters, especially in trying times like these,” said Probat CEO Wim Abbing. “For sure, we would have preferred to showcase it either in Portland or Warsaw, but unfortunately this is not possible right now.”

This month’s digital launch will include a roasting session on the new P05 and a live Q&A with PROBAT Shop Roaster Trainer Daniela Nowitzki and Head of Sales Shop Roaster Jens Roelofs, according to Probat.
