Texas-based full-service coffee company Farmer Brothers has tapped longtime coffee professional John Moore to drive its coffee operations.

As vice president and head of coffee, Moore will lead green coffee purchasing, sustainability initiatives, coffee research and development, blend development, manufacturing, quality assurance and more, according to an announcement from the company this week.

A certified Q Grader and Cup of Excellence Head Judge, Moore was previously a senior trader and general manager at the New York-based green coffee trader Volcafe Specialty Coffee. He also previously served as CEO and partner at Brooklyn, New York-based FAL Coffee Inc., and as vice president of sales and marketing at Octavio Group, the Brazilian owner of Long Island-based Dallis Coffee

“John’s more than two decades of experience in all aspects of the coffee value chain, on both the national and international fronts, will help us realize additional efficiencies and process enhancements,” Farmer Brothers President and CEO Deverl Maserang. “His leadership will also ensure we continue to provide the wide variety of high-quality, full-flavored coffee products our customers rely on and which have made us an industry leader for more than 110 years.”

After more than a century in business in California, Farmer Brothers in 2017 inaugurated its new headquarters and production facilities in Northlake, Texas, north of Dallas. Last month, the company announced it was selling the facility, as well as its non-direct-store-delivery business, to Treehouse Foods for $100 million

In 2017, Farmer Brothers acquired longtime Portland, Oregon-based roasting company Boyd’s for $58.6 million.

The publicly traded company says it generated net sales of $469.2 million in fiscal year 2022.
